Happy Independence Day! The Fourth Of July is pretty much synonymous with BBQ, and it just so happens to be Barbecued Spareribs Day, too, making it the perfect time to try this BBQ sauce recipe. This sauce pairs well with any type of protein, but it pairs especially well with ribs, brisket and pulled pork.

Mezzaluna Ranch Arabians™ BBQ Sauce

  • 1/4 c. Rice vinegar
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1 c. ketchup
  • 1 Tbsp stone ground mustard
  • 4 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp. celery seed
  • 1 c. Bourbon whiskey (we prefer Old Forester 86 proof)
  • 4 Tbsp honey
  • 1 Tbsp (freshly grated) ginger
  • 1 tsp Soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

In large mixing bowl, mix all ingredients together. Pour into sauce pot and simmer on low for about 5 minutes. Turn heat up to medium until you get a soft roiling boil – stirring constantly. Soft boil for another 5 minutes, with constant stirring (do not let it caramelize or burn).

Turn off heat and pour into resting container. Rest in refrigerator until ready for use. To reheat, place in sauce pan on very low heat.
